After rains washed out 60 overs of action on Day 4, the weather forecast for the deciding day shows no respite for hosts England in Manchester.

Early projections indicate further rains on the fifth day of the fourth Ashes 2023 Test match, as England’s chances for a series-levelling win continues to take a beating.

Weather likely to favour Australia on Day 5

Weather forecast for Day 5 of the fourth Ashes 2023 Test in Manchester indicates further showers, as Ben Stokes-led England push for a series-levelling win.

As per AccuWeather, there is a 98 percent chance of rains in the city, and one can expect eight hours of heavy downpour throughout Sunday.

A weather report from BBC indicates similar projections, stating that rains will likely cause disruptions to the Test match.

Australia, on the other hand, will need to bat out the day, in case there are any overs available on offer, in a bid to draw the Test and stay 2-1 ahead in the series. Notably, a draw here would ensure an Ashes retention for Australia, regardless of the result in the fifth Test at The Oval.

They resumed their second innings by trailing England with 275 runs. After reaching 113-4 by stumps on Day 3, they added another 100 runs to their total at the expense of centurion Marnus Labuschagne.

As of now, Australia stands at 214-5 with Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green awaiting weather clearance at the crease.
