Rain was predicted on Day 5 of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and the predictions have come true as it is pouring down at the moment.

Unlike an ICC event, the bilateral series do not have a reserve day, and if the rain god continues to be relentless, the final day of the first Ashes Test could be abandoned.

However, the good news is that every ground in England has a top-notch drainage system, and if the rain stops, the ground-staffs will quickly come into action to remove the water from the playing surface and on the squares.

As per the weather report in England, there is a high chance of rain throughout the day as it threatens to play the spoilsport and ruin the fun for the spectators.

Interestingly, rain occurred on the third day of the Test match, and a major chunk of action was spoiled as the first and the last sessions were washed out due to rain.

Speaking about the first Test, the match is evenly poised at the moment. England could only manage 273 in their second innings, and setting up a target of 281 for Australia.

The visitors started on a positive note, but some terrific bowling from Stuart Broad has opened up the game as the Australians are 107 for 3, still requiring 174 to win.
