On a day where England could have run away with the Test, Australian bowlers, in particular, skipper Pat Cummins halted the home side's march on Day 4 of the ongoing Edgbaston Test of the Ashes 2023 series. Cummins picked up crucial wickets of Ben Duckett, captain Ben Stokes, and Ollie Pope along with James Anderson, to end up rocking England's batting lineup in their second innings all while giving away just 63 runs in his 18.2 overs spell.

Interestingly, this is 30th time that Cummins has got the better of an opposition captain in Test cricket. Apart from Cummins, off-spinner Nathan Lyon also claimed a four-for helping Australia fold England for 273, setting themselves a target of 281.

Former England skipper Sir Alastair Cook speaking to BBC Sport praised the Australian captain for being the stand-out bowler of Day 4.

Here's what Cook said

“You feel England have left some runs out there, but had you offered them 280 at the start of the day they would have taken it. Pat Cummins has been Australia's outstanding seam bowler of the day,"

Heading into Day 5, Australia are 107 for 3, after Stuart Broad fought back for England in the closing few overs of Day 4 grabbing the important wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith.

Centurian from first innings Usman Khawaja and bowler Scott Boland will resume play for Australia on 34* and 13*, respectively with the visitors needing 174.
