On Thursday, September 25, India women locked horns against England women in their first warm-up match ahead of the Women's World Cup 2025, starting on September 30. Meanwhile, the Women in Blue have dealt a massive blow as their star bowler, Arundhati Reddy, was injured.

The 27-year-old, who is a key player for India, suffered a freak injury during an England match and was taken off the field on a wheelchair. The incident occurred on the 4th ball of the 13th over when Heather Knight played a shot straight back to the bowler, and Reddy, in an attempt to catch the ball, landed awkwardly on her left leg.

The right-arm seamer lay still on the ground for a long time and didn't move an inch until the physio rushed to attend her. After a long assessment, Reddy was taken off the ground in a wheelchair.

It is a massive blow for India as the extent of the injury is uncertain, and the bowler was taken away for scans. However, Reddy's World Cup participation looks in danger as India will begin their campaign on Tuesday, September 30, against Sri Lanka.

Why Is Arundhati Reddy A key Player For India In World Cup?

If Arundhati Reddy gets ruled out of World Cup 2025, then it will be a big blow for India women as Reddy has been great for the Women in Blues. The 28-year-old has already taken seven wickets in six innings this year and looked in great shape ahead of the mega-tournament.

Further, the fans await an update about Reddy's injury, but the chances of her making it to the World Cup looks very bleak.
