In an all-time low, Team India's fielding woes almost cost the Men in Blue the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 game. Despite winning the game swiftly by 41 runs against Bangladesh, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. gave Bangladesh's pick of the batters, Saif Hassan, as many as 4 chances. Notably, so far in the ongoing continental tournament, SKY-led India have dropped 12 catches.

In India's Super 4 clash against Bangladesh, Hassan, despite being in a losing cause, scored a vital 69 off 51 after being dropped at the scores of 40, 65, 66, and 67 by Axar Patel, Shivam Dube (twice), and Sanju Samson. Opener Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon (21) were the lone batters to have reached the two digit mark for Bangladesh.

After dominating the continental tournament in the first half, the last two Super Four fixtures exposed Indian fielders to the harsh reality of taking catches under the light in Dubai.

India's lapse in the field creates unwanted record

This is something an Indian cricket fan would have never expected from the national team. Their blunder in the field marked the first time in history when the Men in Blue dropped as many as four catches of a single batter in the shortest format of the game. Moreover, Saif Hassan, after this feat, reached a rare list.

In the history of T20Is, only four batters have been dropped four times, with India doing it for the first time. Moreover, earlier in the same tournament, Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka was also dropped 4 times by Hong Kong.

'Fielding coach has a lot to say': Chakaravarthy reveals Dilip's reaction to India's disastrous fielding

In the aftermath of the poor fielding, India's top spinner Varun Chakaravarthy revealed,

"The fielding coach, T Dilip, has emailed the boys with butter on their fingers to appear before him."

While according to Chakravarthy, T Dilip didn't critique the team much about their last massacre in the field, this time he would certainly have a word or two to say, considering the upcoming World Cup at stake.

He said, "It is a mission to the World Cup. We have to pick up our fielding, and definitely, the fielding coach has a lot to say. Last match, he didn't say much, but this match, I think he will have a lot to say."

Further, Chakaravarthy stated that 'ring of fire' like lights at the Dubai International Stadium make it difficult to concentrate and create 'disturbance'. Moreover, he also emphasized how important it is to seize the opportunities at this stage of the tournament.

As the Asia Cup 2025 reaches its end, India and Sri Lanka will play the last Super 4 match on September 26, with India already having reached the final.
