India are dominating the proceedings against Bangladesh in their opening clash of the Champions Trophy 2025. The bowlers have dominated the proceedings for Rohit Sharma at Dubai and put the Bangla Tigers on the mat.
Notably, looking at the track, Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss. The start of the innings did not go in their favour as Mohammed Shami removed Soumya Sarkar in the first over. This was followed by the wicket of the skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto in the next over by Harshit Rana.
Soon, Shami picked up the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Bangladesh were left reeling at 26/3 inside the seventh over of the innings. Tanzid Hasan, the opener for Bangladesh was looking steady and a lot depended on him at this stage to take the team to a respectable total.
However, Rohit Sharma's move of bringing in Axar Patel did wonders for India. The left-arm all-rounder picked up two wickets of two consecutive deliveries. Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim fell prey to the Indian spinner.
Rohit Sharma Drops A Sitter As Axar Patel Is Denied Of His Hat-trick
Axar Patel had a golden chance of picking up a hat-trick and he successfully created the opportunity too. Off his first delivery to Jaker Ali, Patel bowled a good length delivery that held its line after pitching. Ali tried to defend the ball and got an outside edge to Rohit Sharma at first slip. However, the Indian skipper dropped the catch and with that Axar Patel was denied of his hat-trick.
Not only his hattrick, due to Rohit's blemish, the Indian all-rounder missed out on several other other world records. Notably, if the Indian skipper showed greater efficiency at the moment, Patel would have got four records under his belt.
