In a tri-series involving two Under-19 teams from India, the visiting Afghanistan Under-19 team managed to top the points table and set themselves a date with India A for the final. In the sixth match of the Under-19 tri-series in Bengaluru, the rising Afghan stars demonstrated exceptional all-round performance, with as many as three bowlers taking three wickets each after captain Mahboob Khan led the team from the front with the bat.

Azizullah Miakhil, Mahboob Khan 50s take AFG U19 to 233
Afghanistan Under-19 opener Khalid Ahmadzai started off with a pacey 30 from 39 balls, while his partner Osman Sadat washed up 35 deliveries to aggregate just 9 during their 39-run partnership in nearly 12 overs. Kanishk Chouhan broke through for India A Under-19 with the wicket of Sadat, before Khilan Patel (1-39) trapped number three Faisal Shinozada for just six. Khalid also had his well-set stay squandered away courtesy of a runout as the visitors slipped to 54-3 in the first 15 overs.
Captain Mahboob Khan (50 off 82) and Azizullah Miakhil (60 off 65) both compiled courageous half-centuries in the middle overs and shared a concrete 87-run stand for the fifth wicket to lead Afghanistan’s recovery. Nooristani Omarzai bludgeoned a quick 28* at the death as Afghanistan Under-19 charted a competitive 233-8 in 50 overs. For India, Kanishk Chouhan picked up two more wickets later in the innings to bag figures of 3-42, while Henil Patel claimed 2-41 in his 10.
India A U19 blown away for just 168
Chasing 234, India A Under-19 lost both openers, Wafi Kachchhi and Lakshya Raichandani within the first three balls of the run-chase, courtesy of a runout and to Abdul Aziz respectively. Salam Khan also struck early for Afghanistan with the wickets of India A captain Vihaan Malhotra and wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu. Salam further trapped Mohamed Enaan in front for just a single to finish his quota with figures of 3-35.
VK Vineeth at number four held India A’s fort for a while with a quick 63 from 62 balls, clattering 11 fours and a six in the process. However, Abdul Aziz (3-48) and Roohullah Arab (3-34) both joined Salam to pick up three wickets each in the innings as Afghanistan Under-19 folded up India A Under-19 for just 168 in 30.2 overs to secure a huge 65-run win.
