Afghanistan Under-19 pulled off a sensational performance to lift the Youth Tri-Nation Series 2024 trophy, beating Pakistan by 21 runs in a nail-biting final. The young guns from Afghanistan showed nerves of steel as they defended 250 runs in style, leaving Pakistan short in a tense chase.

Here’s the timeline of how the AFG U19 vs PAK U19 final panned out-

Afghanistan didn’t have the best start. Openers Mahboob Khan and Uzairullah Niazai were back in the hut with just nine runs on the board. Faisal Shinozada brought some calm with a solid 41 off 57 balls, but the scoreboard still moved slowly. Naseer Khan Maroofkhil couldn’t do much, and Khatir Stanikzai went for a duck.

Then came the game-changer. Barkat Ibrahimzai smashed a brilliant 79 off 90 balls, belting six boundaries and three sixes. He steadied the ship and kept the runs flowing when it mattered most.

Nazeef Amiri chipped in with a brilliant 56 off 60 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. The tailenders chipped in some handy runs too. Abdul Aziz and Nooristani Omarzai made sure the innings didn’t fizzle out.

Omarzai’s unbeaten 12 off 10 balls gave Afghanistan a strong finish. Pakistan’s bowlers were decent, but the 25 extras they gave away didn’t help their cause.

Afghanistan ended at 250/9 after 50 overs. Abdul Subhan and Ali Raza were the pick of the bowlers, grabbing three wickets each, while Umar Zaib bagged one.

Chasing 251, Pakistan started on a wobbly note. Usman Khan was out early, and things weren’t looking good. Shahzaib Khan dug in, scoring a hard-fought 53 off 98 balls. Riaz Ullah added 21, but the Afghan bowlers kept a tight leash on the scoring.

Naseer Khan Maroofkhil and Uzairullah Niazai kept the pressure on, making sure Pakistan never got going. At 117/4, Pakistan needed a miracle.

AFG U19 vs PAK U19 Highlights: Haroon Arshad Fights But Afghan Bowlers Have The Last Laugh

Haroon Arshad gave Pakistan a fighting chance with an explosive 70 off 59 balls. Smashing four boundaries, he brought some hope to the chase. Farhan Yousaf chipped in with 29, but wickets kept falling at the other end.

Nooristani Omarzai and Maroofkhil struck when it mattered most, breaking partnerships and rattling the lower order. Mumbai Indians’ latest recruit Allah Ghazanfar picked up a wicket too. A couple of runouts also didn’t help Pakistan’s cause as their innings eventually came to an end at 229 in 48 overs, falling 21 runs short.
