Lucknow Super Giants’ young star Ayush Badoni once again reminded everyone of his talent with a brilliant knock in the Duleep Trophy 2025. Playing for North Zone against East Zone at BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground on August 28, Badoni produced a fluent innings that has strengthened his case ahead of the next IPL season.

North Zone had made a steady start after being put in to bat, as openers Shubham Khajuria and Ankit Kumar added 49 runs together. However, both were dismissed before the 20-over mark, which left the team in a tricky position. When Badoni walked in at number four, the pressure was on him to steady the innings.

From the very beginning, he looked in fine touch and played his shots with confidence. While Yash Dhull rotated the strike at the other end, Badoni chose to attack, making sure the scoring rate stayed healthy.

After Yash Dhull got dismissed, Badoni joined hands with Nishant Sindhu and continued to take the team forward. He played some crisp drives and clever strokes, racing to his half-century in quick time. His innings was full of intent as he struck seven boundaries, keeping East Zone bowlers on their toes.

However, in the 43rd over, he fell to Mukhtar Hussain, but not before scoring a valuable 63 runs off just 60 balls, leaving North Zone in a good position at 194 for 4.

Notably, this knock comes at an important time for Badoni, especially since he did not have the best of outings in DPL 2025.

Leading South Delhi side, he managed only 113 runs in seven innings, despite a strike rate of 141.25. However, his form in longer formats has been great, which makes this performance even more crucial.

In fact, his overall record already speaks volumes about his ability. In 15 First-Class matches, the 25-year-old batter has scored more than 1,100 runs at an average of over 55, which includes three centuries and four fifties. Along with that, he has also accumulated 1,582 runs in T20 cricket, 540 runs in List A matches, and nearly 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League.
