Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has become only the fifth Indian bowler to pick 600 wickets in international cricket. The left-arm spinner achieved the feat during the ongoing first ODI against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

It was on the fourth delivery of the 47th over when Jadeja sent England spinner Adil Rashid (8) back to the pavilion to pick his 600th wicket at the highest level. Wanting to sweep Jadeja, extra bounce didn’t allow Rashid to make any contact with the ball.

Having started the match equivalent to former pacer Zaheer Khan’s 597 wickets for India, Jadeja’s bowling figures of 9-1-26-3 allowed him to become the 26th bowler to achieve this milestone. Zaheer, however, had also picked 13 wickets playing for Asia.

Speaking particularly of Indian bowlers, legends namely Kapil Dev (687), Harbhajan Singh (707), Ravichandran Ashwin (765) and Anil Kumble (953) have picked more wickets than Jadeja for the nation.

Among active Indian players, Mohammed Shami (452), Jasprit Bumrah (443) and Ishant Sharma (434) are behind Jadeja. Thereby, there is more probability of Jadeja equalling Dev than Shami equalling him.
