With each passing day, we are inching closer towards the eighteenth season of the Indian Premier League. The tournament, which will see ten extremely competitive units cross swords against each other, kickstarts on March 21.

Meanwhile, there are several Indian players who have sustained injuries and could be doubtful for the IPL 2025, as mentioned below.

3. Sanju Samson - Rajasthan Royals

  • Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson recently sustained a finger injury which prevented him from keeping the wickets in the fifth T20I between India and England.
  • Opening the batting for India, Samson was hit on the index finger of his right hand off Jofra Archer's bowling. As he complained of serious pain, Samson was attended by the Indian team physio before resuming batting.
  • He got out for sixteen and didn't don the keeping gloves, with Dhruv Jurel replacing him behind the stumps. Later, it was reported by PTI that Samson had fractured his finger and would require at least four to six weeks for recovery.
  • The IPL 2025 starts on the 21st of next month. Thus, Samson is racing against time to get fully fit and it won't be surprising if he misses a major portion of the IPL due to injury.

2. Jasprit Bumrah - Mumbai Indians

  • India's experienced pacer Jasprit Bumrah played a pivotal role for the team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Apart from leading the tourists to an emphatic victory in the first Test in Perth, Bumrah emerged as India's most successful bowler in the high-voltage series.
  • However, an unfortunate back swelling sidelined the seamer from a majority of the Sydney Test. According to the latest reports, Bumrah hasn't regained fitness and might miss the ICC Champions Trophy
  • It's always tough for a fast bowler to get match-fit after a back injury. This kind of injury generally takes a significant period to heal and Bumrah was out of action for a long time due to the same back in 2022-23. Therefore, given that the IPL 2025 is only 40-odd days away, it seems highly likely that Bumrah could miss the tournament.

1. Virat Kohli - Royal Challengers Bengaluru

  • It will certainly be a huge setback for Royal Challengers Bengaluru if their legendary batter Virat Kohli gets ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. For the unversed, Kohli was sidelined from the first ODI against England due to a knee injury.
  • Kohli was seen with a strapped knee, as he missed an ODI due to injury only for the second time. Despite setting the benchmark of fitness, Kohli has been vulnerable to multiple injuries of late.
  • Before developing a knee injury, Kohli was sidelined from a Ranji Trophy encounter due to a neck injury in January. Considering he is on the wrong side of his 30s, Kohli might take longer time than expected to recover from the knee injury. If that's the case, he could be one of the high-profile Indian players to miss the IPL 2025.
