Mumbai and Services are taking on each other in an intense clash in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. This match is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

Suryakumar and Shivam Dube Took Mumbai To A Formidable Total

Services won the toss in the game and elected to bowl first. While batting first, Mumbai lost an early wicket in Prithvi Shaw. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer gave the team a bit of stability with a their intentful batting. Although, the partnership did not last long, the prepared the stage for the batters to come in next. 

Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube took full advantage of the stage set by Rahane and Iyer. While Surya played a brilliant knock of 70 runs from 46 deliveries, Dube scored 71 runs off 37 balls. The power hitting of these batters took Mumbai to a formidable total of 192/4 at the end of their 20 overs. 

Shardul Thakur Rips Through The Services Batting Line Up

It was an above part target that Mumbai set for the Services, however, it was essential for their bowlers to step up and give some early blow to the opposition. Shardul Thakur stood up to the demand of the hour and provided some quick early breakthroughs to put Mumbai in the driver's seat. 

Thakur picked up the wicket of Nitin Tanwar in the first over and rocked Services early. In his second over of the spell Thakur picked up the other opener, Kunwar Pathak and the number three batter for Services, Vineet Dhankhar. He finished his spell with four wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. Out of these 25 runs, he was taken for 16 in the last three balls of his four overs. This was a stunning spell by Thakur and a reminder to the IPL franchises that they have committed a mistake in not buying him during the IPL 2025 auction.

Shardul Thakur Bowled A Brilliant Spell To Start Things With The Ball For Mumbai

Notably, Shardul Thakur was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. He did not impress with his show duribg the tournament. As a result, the five-time IPL champions decided to release him ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. The other franchises also did not show an interest in him when he went under the hammer.
