South African sensation, Dewald Brevis, on Tuesday, etched his name in history books as he smashed the Australian bowlers to all corners of the park in the second T20I, and became the Proteas batter with the second-fastest T20I century. He achieved the massive feat in 41 balls, as the Australian side had no answer to his onslaught.
He batted with extreme precision, and on a batting surface, Brevis utilised his skills to notch up a stunning century, which just falls behind David Miller, who slammed a 35-ball ton. Apart from entering the fastest T20I hundred list, Brevis also created another record.
Brevis becomes Proteas' youngest T20I centurion
The talented right-handed batter became the youngest South African batter to score a T20I hundred (22 years, 105 days). In the process, he left behind several great players who have played for the Rainbow nation.
Players | Age | Opponent |
Dewald Brevis | 22 years, 105 days | Australia |
Richard Levi | 24 years, 36 days | New Zealand |
David Miller | 28 years, 141 days | Bangladesh |
Quinton de Kock | 30 years, 99 days | West Indies |
Faf du Plessis | 30 years, 182 days | West Indies |

Brevis now stands at the top, as he smacked his century at 22 years, 105 days, and this was his ninth T20I match, and it showcases his immense skill in this format. His knock ensured that South Africa crossed the 200-run mark against the Australian team in the second T20I.
Former top order batter, Richard Levi has now dropped to the number two position, and David Miller sits at the third spot. Miller, smashed a 35-ball hundred vs Bangladesh, and that record was nearly broken by the talented Brevis.
A look at Brevis' T20I career
A child prodigy, Brevis' game was always compared with that of the former Proteas star, AB De Villiers. Brevis admires ABD and has a similar stance. The 22-year-old has just played 9 T20I matches and has already made a strong impact.
In nine T20I games, the aggressive batter has racked up 262 runs, with a strike rate over 170. Touted as the future of South African cricket, Brevis also amassed the highest T20I score by a Proteas batter in this format.
