11:56 PM IST| So, that's it from the live coverage of this third game of the IPL 2023. Lucknow Super Giants have started off on a bright note and would be looking to continue this momentum. For Delhi, they would be looking to start afresh when they get at their home ground for the next game. It's goodbye from our end for this game, do join us for the future games. This is Aashay Chopade from OneCricket signing off....

Mark Wood is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant spell of (4-0-14-5). Absolutely stellar performance from the speedster...

That's it!!! LSG win their opening encounter against DC by 50 runs! Fantastic start for KL Rahul and his boys to this 16th edition of the IPL..

Delhi Capitals have been completely outclassed here! They were not upto the mark with the ball and leaked plenty of runs especially at the death as LSG posted a big total on the board. Kyle Mayers was the star with the bat for LSG and he was ably supported by Pooran and couple of cameos in the end.

LSG then found another hero, this time with the ball as Mark Wood absolutely blasted his opponents with raw pace and ended up with a five-wicket haul. Warner scored a fifty as well for DC but they were never in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. A complete performance from KL Rahul and his boys in their first-ever home game at Lucknow.

A Five-wicket haul for Mark Wood! First one of the IPL 2023 and it has come through sheer pace for the LSG speedster..

Chetan Sakariya walks out to the middle and hits Mark Wood for a boundary straightaway. THIS IS THE FIRST BOUNDARY HIT ON MARK WOOD'S BOWLING IN THIS GAME!

OUT! TAKEN! MARK WOOD Strikes and Axar walks back, this is a fourth wicket for Wood. Can he get a fifer? It has been a superb spell from the speedster...

11:18 PM IST| Final over of the game coming up....

DC need 62 off 12 balls...They would look to get as many runs as possible as possible now as net run-rate can play a big factor later in the season.

Why is Axar Patel batting so low in this batting order? He has come a long way as a batter in the last year or so and played some impactful knocks at the international level. Maybe, just maybe, we will see him batting higher in the order in DC's next encounter.

WICKETTT!!!! And...the last hope for DC is also gone now...David Warner departs after a fighting fifty. Avesh Khan bags another wicket with a slower full delivery as Warner fails to clear the long on fence. LSG are all over DC now...

Final Strategic Time-Out of the game and it seems that this match is done and dusted now. DC need 82 off 27 balls and though they still have Warner and Axar in the middle, they need a miracle from hereon.

Avesh Khan joins the party!!! Aman Khan fails to make any impact...

A bouncer from Avesh Khan this, angling into the batter and Aman Khan tries to pull it but manages only a top edge that is easily taken by Nicholas Pooran behind the stumps.

DC need something special in these last five overs...84 needed to win this one.

FIFTY!! Warner gets to his half-century with wickets falling regularly at the other end. However, he needs to up the ante here...

Aman Khan - The IMPACT PLAYER walks out to the middle...

Gone!!!! LBW! Another one bites the dust! DC lose five now as Rovman Powell makes his way back to the hut. Bishnoi is making the ball talk...

Bishnoi bowls a brilliant googly that pitches on off and comes back in sharply. Powell is stuck on his crease and is plumb in front. Delhi sink further....

Another good over from Mark Wood, things are getting difficult for DC here. Required rate is touching 15 now as DC need 101 from 42 balls.

Rovman Powell walks out to the middle now. He is the man who can win the game for DC from here..108 needed from 48 balls!

Looks like I have jinxed Rossouw here.. he is walking off the field!!! LSG have taken the DRS for LBW against him. However, Rossouw knows that he has got a bat on it and the fielder has taken the catch as the UltraEdge confirms it. Big blow to DC and Bishnoi has done the trick for LSG.

Rossouw is batting well here. He is now 30 off 19 balls but DC need Warner to get going too...

DC now need 119 from 60 balls....

Ohhh....Jaydev Unadkat takes the catch but his feet just touches the boundary ropes! It could have been a big wicket for LSG, Rossouw was the man in trouble. He gets a six though and 17 from the over of Bishnoi.

It's Time-Out Time! LSG in command here! Courtesy some intense pace from MARK WOOD! Delhi Capitals need Warner and Rossouw to get going here....

MARK WOOD is turning out to be too hot to handle here for DC batters. Sarfaraz Khan departs now and he just had no answers for this bouncer. This is intense pace bowling and is the kind of stuff you will enjoy as a viewer.

He angles a sharp bouncer into Khan and Sarfaraz tries to play a ramp shot. However, instead of going towards third man, the ball travels towards fine leg and Gowtham takes an easy catch there. DC in trouble!

At the end of the Powerplay, DC are 47 for 2! Can they deal with the pace of Mark Wood?

Sarfaraz Khan survives the hat-trick ball...

MARK WOOD is turning the heat on! He has castled Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh on consecutive deliveries and the crowd and LSG players have gone wild! This is what extreme pace can do...MARK WOOD ON A HAT-TRICK!

Mark Wood is into the attack now...Can he break this dangerous opening partnership? He is the man with the extreme pace and can surely trouble both these openers...

Delhi are off to a flier here! Two overs for 24 runs and  Warner is looking in great touch...

The DC skipper...David Warner is underway with a boundary!!!!

We are all set for the run-chase....The DC openers, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw are in the midde and LSG players have also taken their positions. Mayers to start the proceedings with the ball.. Let's Go...

LSG finish with a huge total of 193/6 at the end of their 20 overs!!!

A fantastic finish for LSG this! They scored 66 runs in the last four overs and would be the happier side going into the break. The charge started with Mayers smashing a quick-fire fifty and then Pooran and Badoni carried that momentum to take LSG to a formidable total here.

DC, on the other hand, would be disappointed with their death bowling. They pulled things back nicely in the middle and would have hoped to restrict LSG around 170 but Sakariya went for plenty at the death and that be a difference in the end.

It would be an interesting chase though and let's see how a power-packed DC batting line-up goes about its business...

Oh, WHAT A BLOW!!!! Krishnappa Gowtham has been introduced as an Impact Player for the last delivery and he hammers the last ball of the game for a biggie....

Krishnappa Gowtham has been introduced as an IMPACT PLAYER for Ayush Badoni

That's the end of a superb cameo from Ayush Badoni!! 18 from 7 for the young man and he has done his job perfectly...

Last over to go...Can LSG reach 185 from here? Also, Aman Khan has been brought in as an Impact Player for Khaleel Ahmed.

Ayush Badoni walks in....

The POORAN SHOW ENDS!!! Khaleel strikes...

Pooran absolutely smashed it though. This was a full delivery and outside off. Pooran throws his blade at it and the ball goes straight into the hands of Prithvi Shaw at extra cover.  Khaleek gets his second wicket.

Good over from Mukesh Kumar, he concedes just 7 from the 18th over after the 17th one went for 19 runs.

Nicholas Pooran takes Krunal Pandya down! No, not literally. He smashes the ball towards the non-striker and before Krunal could take an evasive action, he gets hit by the ball and is on the floor. No damage done though and the senior Pandya is on his feet.

Nicholas Pooran has taken matters in his hands now...Can Nicholas Pooran emulate his Caribbean partner today?

It's Strategic Time-Out number 2 of this game and LSG are 131-4 at the end of their 16 overs! They need to finish off on high to get a good score here. They would be at least looking at 175 from here...

Nothing against the prolific Sarfaraz Khan but we must admit...he has been bit untidy behind the stumps today...

Pooran gets going straightaway.... A six and a four to start IPL 2023 for the sylish left-hander!

The dangerous Nicholas Pooran walks out to the middle now...

And...Marcus Stoinis is gone!!

This is a big blow and Khaleel Ahmed strikes in his first delivery of the second spell. He serves a length delivery here and angles it across the right-hander. Stoinis tries to chase it but ends up giving an easy catch to Sarfaraz behind the stumps.

Marcus Stoinis - THE HULK walks out to the middle and he has Krunal Pandya with him to consolidate this innings now.

BAPU IS PUMPED UP! Double strike for DC as Kyle Mayers follows Deepak Hooda after scoring a blistering fifty..

Axar bowls a flatter and quicker delivery on off. Mayers tries to slap it towards the off side but misses completely as the ball turns in and knocks over the off pole. Superb delivery!

CAUGHT!!!! Deepak Hooda departs....

Kuldeep Yadav breaks a dangerous partnership as Deepak Hooda departed after almost a run-a-ball knock. This one was nicely tossed up in air from Kuldeep and Hooda tries to loft it over long off. He, however, fails to get the distance and ends up handing Warner an easy catch at long off.

KYLE MAYERS is taking apart DC bowlers now....The CALYPSO CHARGE IS ON!!!

FIFTY ON DEBUT FOR KYLE MAYERS!!!!!! He is looking very dangerous here and has made a statement that he is not just here to fill for Quinny but to make an impact as well. He has taken LSG to a good position now.

It's time for the first Time-Out of this game! LSG are 60 for 1 at the end of 8 overs and after a sedate start, Kyle Mayers has brought some parity in the proceedings...

Just like we anticipated...KYLE MAYERS has decided to take on Axar here.. A boundary to start and then a SIXXX....

It's time for Axar to waive his magic now...He is up against Mayers now and the left-hander will fancy his chances against the left-arm spinner

At the end of the Powerplay, LSG are just 30-1! DC have started well here.

Oh, my word! How can you drop that? Khaleel Ahmed drops a sitter! An absolute dolly here..Kyle Mayers gets a reprieve!

Deepak Hooda walks in at number 3!

KL RAHUL DEPARTS!!!! Tries his pick-up shot in a bid to get another one over the fence but holes out at the backward square leg fence. Axar takes an easy catch and the LSG skipper fails to impress in the first-ever game at their home ground. Chetan Sakariya is the man who provides the first blow and he is absolutely pumped up...

And the LSG Skipper, KL RAHUL...after struggling for a long time has finally hit one over the fence!!!

Here we gooo....first boundary of the game from the debutant - KYLE MAYERS

It comes in the third over of the game though and this has been a sedate start from LSG.

A tidy start from Khaleel first up...Just 1 from the first over!

7:29 PM IST : It's time to get underway here at the Ekana Stadium...

KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers walk out to the middle while Delhi Capitals players are also in the middle waiting to get things started. Khaleel Ahmed to start the proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

PLAYING XIs & IMPACT PLAYERS

Lucknow Super Giants Playing XI: Lokesh Rahul (c), Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Jaydev Unadkat

Impact Players of LSG: Krishnappa Gowtham, Daniel Sams, Prerak Mankad, Amit Mishra and Yash Thakur.

Delhi Capitals Playing XI: David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rilee Rossouw, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan (wk), Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakariya, Mukesh Kumar

Impact Players of DC: Lalit Yadav, Praveen Dubey, Abhishek Porel, Aman Khan, Manish Pandey.

KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "That is how all teams work to make the home ground a fortress. It's been a good experience playing in this big league. We are as clueless as the opposition. We haven't played too many games. We have no expectations. We just will play according to the situation and try to play to the merit. Hopefully, score 200 runs tonight. The impact player gives teams an advantage to change the course of the match. It's interesting."

David Warner (Delhi Capitals Captain): "We want to bowl first. Just want to asses the conditions. One end of the pitch is bare and one is grassy so we want to chase it down here. The impact player is confusing sometimes. But it's a welcome addition to the tournament. Either it's a batter more or bowler more. Yes, good to be back as captain. Unfortunate for Rishabh Pant that he suffered a horrific car crash. Our thoughts are with him always. Thank You very much."

Toss Time : The two captains, David Warner and KL Rahul are in the middle now.

Delhi Capitals have won the toss and have elected to Bowl first.

6:55 PM IST: We are just five minutes away from the all-important toss..

It's Time for the Pitch Report...

Pitch Report (Ian Bishop): "Great to be here in Lucknow for the historical occasion as this venue is hosting its very first IPL game. This is also LSG's first ever home game in the IPL. Let's see what the dimension of the ground is. To my left, it is 65m and to my right, it is slightly bigger and it is 72m. Nice good thump down the ground of 77m and to hit there the muscle game comes into play. This 22 yards is an interesting one. It has very little grass on it. On the Ekana End, it's a very bare surface and it might grip and spin a bit. As I move down the pitch it becomes harder. There are some grasses on this half, making the surface an interesting one. Though the grasses are a bit patchy but it does make the surface of two contrasting halves. If the ball hits the grass patch, then it might skid and bounce a bit. But the grasses are patchy and hence it might behave two-paced. We expect this red-soiled pitch to provide a good amount of bounce. This should be a high-scoring exciting track."

Player-to-player battles

Both teams are full of power-packed performers, and one of the key battles of this clash would be - KL RAHUL vs DAVID WARNER. Both are openers and leaders of their respective teams and are consistent performers at the top of the order. So, both teams will depend heavily on their skipper for a good start and are critical for their team fortunes.

Also, a key match-up of this game will be between Kuldeep Yadav and LSG middle order, which have players like Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. The result of this battle could go a long way in determining the overall result of this game.

LSG vs DC: Head-to-head

Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals have met twice so far, and in both games, KL Rahul and his boys managed to outclass the Delhi unit. Both teams have made some changes to their squads this season, so let's see who wins the battle for supremacy this time around.

LSG vs DC - The battle of Northern Supremacy

Lucknow is a new kid in the block as far as IPL is concerned but started impressively last season and would be looking to take some more strides forward this season. Delhi, on the other hand, are without their regular skipper Rishabh Pant this season but they are a robust unit and would be looking to stamp their authority under the able leadership of David Warner.

Welcome everyone to OneCricket's Live Blog as Lucknow Super Giants go up against Delhi Capitals in match number 3 of this 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. It is Super Saturday and let's hope for a cracker of a game as KL Rahul and David Warner face-off against each other. I am Aashay Chopade and I will be bringing all the action from this exciting clash tonight.
