The first double header day of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) is right upon us. The first blockbuster clash of the day features the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) up against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The toss took place minutes ago as KKR skipper Nitish Rana called it right and he elected to bowl first on a dry afternoon.
Teams generally bowling first at the PCA Stadium have gone onto win the last seven games, and KKR have started on a strong note, winning the all-important coin flip.
With Jonny Bairstow (entire IPL) and Liam Livingstone (just for the first game) ruled out, Shikhar Dhawan had a tough call to make regarding the four foreigners. The southpaw went with newly acquired Sam Curran, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Nathan Ellis and another debutant, Sikandar Raza.
With Shreyas Iyer ruled out of the IPL due to a back injury, newly appointed skipper, Nitish Rana went ahead with Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Tim Southee, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine as the four foreigners in the playing XI.
Both the teams will be looking to start the tournament on a winning note. KKR have a better head-to-head record over PBKS and will be looking to continue the same streak.
