Virat Kohli gets the gold for being the Player Of The Match and deservingly so! The legendary Indian batter top-scored in the match with an epic 135 from 120 balls, clattering 11 fours and seven huge sixes. The innings also marked his 52nd ODI century.

India overcame South Africa by 17 runs in a high-scoring thriller at Ranchi to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first, India mounted 349-8 in 50 overs, with Virat Kohli top-scoring with 135 from 120 balls to slap his 52nd ODI ton. KL Rahul and opener Rohit Sharma also bludgeoned swift half-centuries.

In response, Arshdeep Singh (2-64) and Harshit Rana (3-65) struck with the new ball to reduce South Africa to 11-3, and eventually to 77-4. Matthew Breetzke and Marco Jansen fought back for the visitors with sparkling 70s, before Corbin Bosch smeared 67 from 51 balls to take the chase down till the last over. Kuldeep Yadav kept chipping away with crucial wickets throughout the innings to claim 4-68 to ensure an Indian win.
