No One Died: Temba Bavuma Wants His Side To Move On From Nightmarish Australian Tour

After South Africa's horrorful tour of Australia where the visitors got thrashed three-nil, things got heated up in their dressing room.

The brunt of the aftermath was the ominous sacking of former skipper Dean Elgar, replacing whom Temba Bavuma was given the charge to lead the Rainbow Nation in the longest format.

Bavuma, who recently stepped down from the role of T20I skipper after the World Cup debacle in Australia last year, recognised the need to adapt to tough tours.

The right-hander reminded his troops of the fact that they didn't died after the testing Test series Down Under. Moreover, he expects his side to gather crucial lessons from those games and imply them in their upcoming encounters when they face the Caribbean side in white jersey.

“No one died. We went to Australia and got a good beating. With that, there were lessons that guys took individually from it,"

He was understanding enough to know that Australia, by no means is an easy country to visit and these kinds of challenges will continue to show up in future as well.

“Here within the Test team, guys would’ve dealt with the challenges that they faced. I also think that guys need to be kind to themselves and understand that Australia is another tough place to tour. That’s why people respect Australia for the country that they are,"

“Another thing is not to hold on for too long to the trauma or that baggage. At some point you have to move on from it and I trust that the guys have done that.”

Bavuma has clearly spoken that baggage from the past does not need to be carried on when they face the West Indies side in the 1st Test beginning on 28th Feb in Centurion.
