With some wonderful performances during the month of March, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the player of the month nominees for both men and women categories with three names each.

However, the biggest surprise is the non-inclusion of any Indian even after some decent performances from the side against Australia.

Anyway, moving forward, here are the three players who made it to the list and the third one could turn a million heads as the name is an upcoming star.

  1.  Kane Williamson

The Kiwi batter and former Test captain has been phenomenal in the international cricket for the past few years as he managed to pile on runs consistently for his side. His latest brilliance came against Sri Lanka where he thumped a century and a double-century especially when his side were in a dire need of his knock. The New Zealand side will dearly miss the services of Kane Williamson during the 50-over World Cup, as the Kiwi legend has ruptured his ACL.

2. Shakib Al Hasan

A legend of the game, Shakib had an outstanding month, first performing against England and then against Ireland. Despite the Bangladesh losing the ODI series against England, Shakib turned out to be their best player - being the highest run-scorer and highest wicket-taker.

He continued to perform against the visiting Ireland side, when he smacked a crucial 93 in the first ODI, that led the charge for a series win.

3. Asif Khan

The explosive batter from UAE, Asif Khan performed exceedingly well in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. In UAE's final three qualifying matches, Asif struck two fifties, with both the tremendous knock coming against Nepal.

After a rather sedate start to the series against Nepal, Asif came to life with a blistering 42-ball 101*, wherein he struck 11 sixes and 4 boundaries. His hundred was apparently the fastest by an Associate Nations Player in ODIs.
