After a drubbing at the hands of Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to bounce back when they collide against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.

It was a lacklustre performance by SRH in their opening contest, with both batting and bowling letting them down big time. However, the return of skipper Aiden Markram will be a massive boost for the former IPL champions.

Let us look at the possible playing XI that SRH can field against KL Rahul's LSG.

Openers

Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal

Abhishek Sharma, the talented southpaw had a poor outing against the Rajasthan Royals, but expect the franchise to give him the longer rope alongside Mayank Agarwal. Speaking of Agarwal, he was the lone warrior for his side in the opening match, but didn't get any support from the other end.

Middle Order

Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Harry Brook, Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar

Rahul Tripathi had a game to forget against the Royals, more so he wasted a DRS review and had a nightmare start to the IPL 2023 season. Another talented cricketer, he is that perfect player for number 3 and will continue to do so in this season.

The return of Aiden Markram will be like a booster dose for SRH. They need a solid player in the middle order and Markram provides just that. Moreover, Markram is in a rich vein of form and that'll be beneficial to the SRH side.

Perhaps the burden of prize tag took a toll on Harry Brook in the last match. He failed to get going against Rajasthan and looked out of sorts chasing a mammoth total. But you can't keep a good player down for long, so expect Brook to come out all guns blazing at number 5.

If SRH bat first, Abdul Samad will play at number 6. However, he might come in as an impact player if they are bowling first. He showed great skills and determination in the last match, but a target in excess of 200 was a touch too difficult to overhaul.

SRH have a lot of faith in Washington Sundar, but the all-rounder hasn't truly justify his talent as of yet. He can bowl, he can bat, but needs to be a bit more consistent. He will surely play at number 7 as an all-rounder.

Bowlers

Adil Rashid, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan

Adil Rashid was SRH's pick of the bowlers in the tournament opener. A wily customer, his spell in the middle overs will be crucial for the fate of SRH.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has lost the cutting edge, has lost the swing. But being an experienced player, SRH will still bank on him to come good with the ball against LSG.

Now this is where the big question comes up. Fazalhaq Farooqi did exceptionally well against RR with the ball, but the return of Marco Jansen casts doubt on his future. Jansen did well for the franchise last season and can also chip in with the bat. So expect the South African to pip Farooqi for that foreigners' spot.

Known as the 'yorker king', T Natarajan still has it in him. A brilliant bowler in the slog overs, the left-arm pacer will be the go to bowler between 16-20 over-mark. The seamer has a good record against LSG and will be a weapon for Aiden Markram.
