After a brutal thrashing in the first Test, Sri Lanka (SL) have a mountain to climb as they gear up to take on Australia (AUS) in the series-deciding second Test at the Galle International Stadium starting Thursday, February 6a. The Aussies are riding high on confidence, while the hosts are desperate to salvage pride and give Dimuth Karunaratne a winning farewell in his final Test.

Ahead of this game, here is a look at the Dream11 predictions, the fantasy cricket tips, the pitch report and the best predicted XIs for the fantasy contests of the match.

SL vs AUS 2nd Test Preview

The first Test was a nightmare for Sri Lanka. Outplayed in every department, they crumbled under pressure and lost by an innings and 242 runs. After being asked to field first, the bowlers were put through the wringer as Australia piled up a mammoth 654/6.

Prabath Jayasuriya and Jeffrey Vandersay picked up three wickets each, but it was more about damage control than dominance. With the bat, Dinesh Chandimal fought alone with a gutsy 72 in the first innings, but the rest of the batting lineup fell apart like a house of cards, getting bundled out for 165. The story wasn’t much different in the second innings.

Sri Lankan batters got starts but failed to convert, eventually folding for 247. This time, they need more than just brief cameos. The senior players have to step up, and with Dimuth Karunaratne playing his last Test, expect Sri Lanka to dig deep and fight till the end.

On the other hand, Australia were ruthless in the first Test. After opting to bat, they made Sri Lanka’s bowlers sweat for every wicket. Usman Khawaja (232), Steve Smith (141), and debutant Josh Inglis (102 off 94) made sure the scoreboard kept ticking.

Their bowling attack was equally lethal. Matthew Kuhnemann ran riot, picking up five wickets in the first innings, while Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc chipped in with crucial breakthroughs. In the second innings, Kuhnemann and Lyon spun a web again, bagging four wickets each to dismantle Sri Lanka. With the World Test Championship final on the horizon, Australia will be eager to finish the series on a high and keep the winning momentum going.

Weather Report - According to AccuWeather, the weather for the SL vs AUS 2nd Test in Galle is set for hot and humid conditions with early rain threats before the skies clear up. Day 1 (Feb 6) will be partly sunny with a 58% chance of afternoon showers, while Day 2 (Feb 7) looks wetter, with 70% probability of rain possibly causing interruptions.

By Day 3 (Feb 8), the rain threat eases, bringing clear skies and ideal batting conditions, which continue into Day 4 (Feb 9), with just 2% chance of rain and the pitch starting to break down. Spinners will rule as the game progresses, while early swing could play a role in the first two days.

Pitch Report - The Galle pitch has a mind of its own. Early on, pacers might find some assistance, but as the game progresses, it’s all about spin, spin, and more spin. Batters must be cautious against the new ball, as seamers might get some movement in the first session. Spinners will come into play from Day 2 onwards, extracting sharp turn and bounce. The pitch gets trickier as the match progresses, making batting in the fourth innings a nightmare. Winning the toss? Bat first. It’s almost a golden rule in Galle.
