After intense action on the first day, the second day of the Lanka T10 Super League 2024 was marred by the presence of rain. Two out of the three scheduled games were abandone due to rain.

However, the excitement for the third day of the tournament has not gone down. The Colombo Jaguars (CJ) will take on the Hambantota Bangla Tigers (HBT) in the third match of day three and the ninth match of the tournament. This match will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Sri Lanka on 13th December at 8:30 PM IST.

Both the Hambantota Bangla Tigers and the Colombo Jaguars are sailing on the same boat. While both teams are two games down in the tournament, one of their matches has been abandoned due to rain. Coincidentally, both teams have lost their completed games. However, the Tigers are ahead in the points table owing to a better net run rate.

The wicket at the Pallekele generally provides a balanced surface for cricket. It allows players of all trades to have a say in deciding the fate of the game. This was exactly what we witnessed on the first two days of the tournament. While 100 plus totals were put on the board by the batters, the bowlers who bowled the right areas and used the variations cleverly also got the benefits from the track. Notably, in two of the three completed matches, the chasing team has won the game. So, waiting for the toss and picking more top order batters from the team batting second could be a sensible thing to do.
