Young Indian all-rounder, Riyan Parag has bowled over hearts with an off-field act that speaks volumes about the man behind the cricketer. The youngster has adopted Janam, a critically injured rescue dog and committed to sponsoring his full recovery.

Riyan Parag Welcomes Rescue Dog Janam Into His Life With a Big-Hearted Move

The emotional announcement came via Riyan Parag’s Instagram post, where he shared the backstory of Janam’s miraculous survival and thanked animal rescuer Manavi Rai for trusting him with the pup’s future.

Back in May 2025, animal rescuer Manavi Rai received a distress call about a dog who was in a near-death state infested with maggots with insects having entered his nose, mouth and even trachea. He was severely injured and without urgent help, he wouldn’t have made it another week.

Manavi stepped in and became his saviour. And now, with the dog slowly healing, learning to respond to his name and defying every odd thrown at him, the Rajasthan Royals star has taken the baton forward by adopting Janam and committing to his full recovery which will require multiple surgeries and months of care.

Sharing his emotions on Instagram, Riyan wrote:

"Born again on 21st July, and now, officially, my boy"

He praised Manavi Rai as a “true animal warrior”, thanking her for trusting him to be a part of Janam’s story. Though Parag’s packed cricket schedule won’t allow him to bring Janam home, he has ensured that the pup will receive all the love, attention and medical care he needs.

A Life Beyond Cricket

Known for being a fitness fanatic and a workhorse when it comes to training, Riyan Parag has often spoken about discipline, commitment and doing the hard yards when no one is watching. But this gesture off the field proves that his character runs deeper than six-hitting or gym reps.

At a time when social media is full of flexes and filters, Parag’s decision to adopt Janam and sponsor his recovery is a breath of fresh air. So here’s to Janam, the fighter and to Riyan Parag, the guy who saw a wounded soul and said, “You’re family now.”
