Hasin Jahan, born on 2 February 1980 in Siuri, Birbhum, West Bengal, India, has been in the public eye not only as the estranged wife of Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami but also for her personal and professional endeavours.

Who is Mohammed Shami's wife?

Raised in a Muslim Bengali family, Jahan's early life was closely tied to Kolkata, where her father, Mohammed Hassan, operated a transportation business. While her father was engaged in business, her mother dedicated her life to homemaking.

From a young age, Jahan displayed a fondness for the limelight. She embarked on a modelling career, hoping to make a mark in the entertainment industry. However, familial obligations led her to step back from this aspiration post-marriage.

Her academic background includes an education from Katwa Bharati Bhaban in Katwa and a degree from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata.

Jahan's personal life has had its fair share of ups and downs. Her first marriage in 2002 to Sheikh Saifuddin from her hometown resulted in the birth of two daughters. As time passed, Jahan's desire to further her studies faced resistance from her in-laws, eventually culminating in their divorce in 2010.

In 2014, Jahan entered a new chapter of her life by marrying Shami. The couple welcomed their daughter, Aairah, in July 2015. However, by 2018, the union was on the rocks. Jahan made headlines when she alleged severe mistreatment by Shami and his family, even claiming attempts on her life. She approached the Jadavpur Police Station in January 2018 with these accusations, but initially refrained from legal proceedings.

The discord deepened when Jahan publicly accused Shami of infidelity, sharing supposed evidence of his affairs on social media. She further claimed that he secretly wed a Pakistani woman.

In response to these allegations, Shami firmly denied all charges. He notably stated his loyalty to his nation amid other accusations like match-fixing.

The legal battle between the couple intensified, with the courts becoming more involved in their dispute. In January 2023, a Kolkata court ruled in Jahan's favour, instructing Shami to pay her a monthly alimony of Rs. 1.30 lakh. This amount comprised Rs. 50,000 for Jahan's personal expenses and Rs. 80,000 for the care of their daughter, Aairah.

However, last month Shami, along with his elder brother Mohammed Hasib, were granted bail by a Kolkata lower court concerning the domestic violence allegations.
