What Did he Just Say? R Ashwin Compares CSK Star's Batting With Bollywood Legend

India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin drew a parallel between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prabhu Deva as he compared the former's 'elegant' batting with the latter's dance moves.

Although Ruturaj, despite all his talent has failed to capitalise on the sporadic international opportunities he has received, there is no doubt on how competent a batter he is.

Vice-captaining the team in the ongoing Ireland series, Ruturaj opened for India in the first T20I on Friday. While he was not at his fluent best, he brought a drive and a pull out of his array of textbook shots which led him to an unbeaten 16-ball 19 before rain interrupted and umpires eventually called off the match.

While comparing Ruturaj with the legendary dancer, Ashwin went on to say that he is willing to pay to watch the batter even in the nets.

"Ruturaj is world class, he is so elegant like Prabhu Deva's dance moves, he is born to make batting looks easy - if someone ask me to pay to watch him bat even at the nets all day, I will definitely pay to watch him bat," Ashwin said on his official YouTube channel.

Prabhu Deva, a Padma Shri winner, is known for his excellent dance moves which has garnered him fame across the globe. A career that spans 32 years, Prabhu Deva is a dance icon, who has also bagged two National Film Awards for 'Best Choreography.'

Talking about Ruturaj, the 26-year-old will lead the Indian contingent in the cricketing event in the Asian Games 2023. Before that, he will feature in the remaining two T20Is versus Ireland.
