When Brazilian Footballer, David Luiz Wished Virat Kohli Good Luck For World Cup

It is always delightful to see football fraternity meet with the cricketing world. It shows that players are divided by continents and sometimes a different sport altogether, do find meaningfulness and show appreciation for fellow sportspersons.

As the start of the 2019 World Cup was just a few days away, celebrities worldwide were expressing their support for various teams. When questioned about his preferences, the then-Chelsea footballer David Luiz promptly declared Team India as his favourite. He even created a video message for the then Indian captain Virat Kohli, sharing kind words for the skipper.

In his video message, David Luiz affectionately referred to Virat as 'bro' and expressed his commitment to backing Virat's team.

This video was shared on Twitter by businessman and philanthropist Frank Khalid, who is an enthusiast of both football and cricket. Khalid's tweet read:

"As you all know I love both football & cricket. I asked @DavidLuiz_4 who he was supporting for the @cricketworldcup & his response was @BCCI & captain @imVkohli. He had a special message for the captain. #ViratKohli."

In the message, Luiz conveyed his best wishes directly to Virat Kohli, saying:

"Hello, Virat Kohli! Good luck for the World Cup, bro. May God bless you and your team abundantly. I'll be supporting you. See you soon."

Fast forward to 2023, India is now hosting the World Cup. It's interesting to reminisce about Luiz's well-wishes to Kohli back in 2019, as the world once again gathers for this prestigious event on Indian soil.

There are big responsibilities shouldered on the entire Indian contingent especially skipper Rohit Sharma. As the tournament nears, an enormous question is on India's No. 4 spot as several players have seemingly been unable to crack the spot so far.

With players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer stringing out, it would be interesting to see India's squad for the WC 2023 tournament.
