In a recent interview, Vikrant Massey, celebrated for his role in the film '12th Fail,' unveiled his favourite cricketer and elucidated the reasoning behind his preference.
For those not in the know, '12th Fail' is a down-to-earth flick based on a book with the same title. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, it follows the journey of a Hindi medium student from a chaotic village in Chambal to becoming an IPS officer, facing plenty of hurdles along the way.
This movie has struck a chord with many viewers, including Rohit Sharma, the current captain of the Indian cricket team, who has joined the ranks of its admirers after seeing it.
During a recent interview, Vikrant Massey wasted no time in naming Rohit Sharma as his favourite cricketer, explaining that their Mumbai connection has always made him a staunch supporter of the Indian captain.
Here’s what Vikrant Massey said on the YouTube channel of Unfiltered By Samdish:
"I am a hardcore Mumbai guy. Rohit himself is from Dombivli, Mumbai and plays for Mumbai Indians. My friends fight a lot with me for this.”
The interviewer further attempted to bait Vikrant Massey by questioning if anyone in his circle considers KL Rahul superior to Rohit Sharma, but Vikrant handled it adeptly and avoided the trap. The young star added:
“He [KL Rahul] could be a great player. He is world class.”
Following a rough patch, Rohit Sharma bounced back in style, notching up a sensational century in the third Test against England at Rajkot, leading India to a convincing 434-run victory and a 2-1 series advantage.
