Flamboyant Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis was one of the best performers in the Australian squad's triumph in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Along with playing 60 ODIs and 51 T20Is, Stoinis is also a popular name in the Indian Premier League. He has made 82 IPL matches in which he has a batting strike rate of over 140.

While Stoinis is popular in cricket playing nations, he is still relatively unpopular in countries like the USA, where cricket is not one of the main sports.

During a recent leisure trip to New York City, USA, Stoinis and his partner, Sarah Czaenuch, were photographed by David Guerrero, a street photographer. Notably, Guerrero failed to identify them and inquired about their origin, later posting on social media, "Captured this lovely Australian couple through street photography."

Cricket enthusiasts were quick to notice that the photographer did not recognise Stoinis, and informed him that he had photographed a popular cricketer.

Stoinis made his ODI debut in 2015 against England. He has scored 1326 runs in the format, at an average of 28.21. In the shortest format, he has an average and a strike rate of 29.74 and 147.33.

Stoinis is also one of the best players in the Big Bash League. The Melbourne Stars allrounder has played 41 matches, from which he has 38 wickets and 2497 runs at a strike rate of almost 135.
