Rajasthan Royals’ teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest-ever IPL signing at 13 during the 2025 mega auction, recently marked his 14th birthday with the franchise. The young cricketer, acquired for INR 1.1 crore, celebrated the milestone on March 27th as the Royals shared glimpses of team festivities on social media.
Despite the excitement surrounding his historic purchase, one of the youngest players to play IPL, Vaibhav remains uncapped after Rajasthan’s consecutive losses to start the season.
RR Team Celebrate Suryavanshi's 14th Birthday After KKR Loss
The Rajasthan Royals squad showered their teenage recruit Vaibhav Suryavanshi with camaraderie during his 14th birthday celebrations, sharing glimpses of the event across social media.
The heartwarming video featured senior players like Sandeep Sharma, skipper Riyan Parag, and support staff members including Vikram Rathour extending wishes to the prodigy. Captioned “Vaibhav’s first Royals birthday went like” on their official X handle, the clip showcased Riyan Parag gleefully smashing cake into the youngster’s face as teammates cheered.
Notably, the Bihar-born batter has already rewritten Indian cricket history books – from his Ranji Trophy debut at 12 to smashing the fastest U-19 Test century by an Indian – building unprecedented anticipation around his potential IPL bow.
Suryavanshi's Early Career & Record-Breaking Feats
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricketing journey began at an astonishingly young age. At just 12 years and 284 days, he etched his name in history by becoming the youngest Indian since 1986 to debut in first-class cricket.
He also became the second-youngest player to represent Bihar in the Ranji Trophy. Suryavanshi’s remarkable feat saw him surpass records set by cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, marking the beginning of what promises to be a stellar career.
His 400-run tally in five Vinoo Mankad Trophy matches for Bihar underscored his precocious talent, foreshadowing his INR 1.1 crore IPL valuation.
The teenager’s explosive potential shone during India U-19’s Test against Australia in September 2024, where he hammered a 58-ball 104 – the fastest century by an Indian in U-19 Tests. Only England’s Moeen Ali (56-ball ton in 2005) has scored quicker at this level.
