In a momentous occasion for India, the women's visually impaired cricket squad secured a gold medal at the ISBA World Games 2023 by defeating Australia in the finals. This remarkable victory unfolded on Saturday, August 26th, in an exciting T20 encounter held at Edgbaston in England. The Indian women's team convincingly outplayed the formidable Australian side via the DLS method, securing victory by a commanding nine-wicket margin.

Australia managed to post a total of 115 runs for the loss of eight wickets during their innings while batting first. Notably, middle-order batter Lewis contributed 29 runs from 28 deliveries, and Webeck emerged as the top-scorer with an unbeaten 30 runs off 26 balls, aiding Australia in setting a challenging target. On the bowling front for India, Deepika, Davis, and Tudu each claimed one wicket, with the remaining five wickets falling victim to run-out dismissals.

However, the game faced an interruption due to rain as India began their chase. Although opener Neelappa departed early after scoring just eight runs, Deepika's impressive knock of 18* off 11 balls helped India accumulate 43 runs on the scoreboard in a mere 3.3 overs before the rain brought the play to a halt. Ultimately, India clinched victory through the DLS method.
