Afghanistan cricketer Mujeeb Ur Rahman entered record books in an otherwise disappointing match for his team.

In the final ODI of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mujeeb scored the fastest-ever fifty for his team in the ODI format.

Batting at number nine for Afghanistan, Mujeeb went hammer and tongs as his side for all practical reasons had already lost the game.

Scoring a half-century in 26 deliveries, Mujeeb broke the previous best that belonged to Rashid Khan, who had scored a fifty in 27 balls versus Ireland.

Player
Balls
Mujeeb Ur Rahman 26
Rashid Khan 27
Mohammad Nabi 28
Najibullah Zadran 30

Interestingly, Mujeeb only averaged 6.15 with the bat before this knock in the ODIs. His highest score in 32 innings was 18*.

While he entertained the fans with his batting heroics, the fashion of his dismissal, funnily, was also unforgettable. He played a flick but his right boot hit the stumps in the process as his extraordinary 64-run knock came to an end.

Soon after, Afghanistan also got bowled out for 209, losing the match by 59 runs. They also got whitewashed at the hands of Pakistan. They will play their next game versus Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023.
