Even at 37, Virat Kohli is considered one of the fittest athletes in the world, and his tough gym routines along with the required discipline are talked about by fans all over. However, Kohli feels his diet is as important.
And surprisingly, one of the key meals that keeps him energetic is not fancy or complicated. It is a simple, everyday salad that anyone can prepare in just 15 minutes.
The secret 15-minute recipe that keeps Virat Kohli on his toes
During a chat with Curly Tales, Virat Kohli revealed that this “superfood salad” has become a major part of his daily meals.
When he shifted from eating meat to becoming a vegetarian, he needed to find something that was light, nutritious, and filling. This salad turned out to be the perfect match.
So what goes into it? Kohli’s salad usually includes spinach or lettuce as the base. He then adds five simple, easily available ingredients, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, chickpeas, and avocado or nuts.
Together, they make a meal that has protein, fibre, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals.
Virat Kohli calls it one of the most balanced meals because it gives the body everything it needs without overloading the plate.
Preparing it is quick. Mix all the chopped ingredients together and season it with salt or pepper. Such recipes are convenient for Kohli, who is always on the run and has little time to indulge in a meal.
Virat Kohli’s simple food philosophy
Virat Kohli has also experimented with other superfoods, like mesclun greens, roasted pumpkin seeds, puffed amaranth, and even watermelon for extra hydration. The idea is to keep the meal fresh, colourful, and nutritious.
Apart from this salad, the food philosophy of Virat Kohli is very simple. He prefers steamed meals made with very few spices, mostly just salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lime.
He avoids heavy masalas and oily dishes, saying that clean, lightly cooked food keeps him active for longer hours. Even his vegetables are mostly pan-grilled with just a little olive oil.
This is the secret to his lean body and superhuman-like energy on the field.
