New Zealand's Glenn Phillips took a blinder at backward point to dismiss India's star batter, Virat Kohli, in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai. However, on social media, confusion endured as one fan mocked the wrong Philips for taking Kohli's catch.

Indian Fans Went After Philips Company Instead Of Glenn Phillips

India were rocked early by New Zealand as they lost their three prime batters inside seven overs, with the third one being their superstar Virat Kohli, who was fresh off of a century against Pakistan. Kohli, who was batting on 11, played a cut shot against Matt Henry, which was caught exceedingly well by fielder Glenn Phillips at backward point, who took his one hand out and flew in the air to grab the stunner, leaving Indian fans shell-shocked.

Courtesy of this catch, India were left in a lurch as they were reduced to 34/3 in 6.4 overs with their top order vanished.

The blinder received many reactions from fans and social media followers, as some of them praised Phillips for his acrobatic effort, while the rest did not like what they saw as Kohli had to walk back due to that effort.

However, there were a few particular instances on social media where fans mocked Phillips and questioned him, but it turned out it was the wrong guy. In fact, the person fans went after was not even a person.

One of the fans who questioned Phillips about dismissing Kohli wrongly posted on the account of Philips India, an electronic product maker multinational conglomerate company based in the Netherlands with a massive user base in India.

The Kohli fan who wanted to question Phillips accidentally posted on Philips India's account, and social media users were left in splits. However, one of the persons clarified to him that this is not the same person.

Apart from this, another person mocked Glenn Phillips, mentioning that Kohli is his father on the same Instagram account but under a different post.

India Reach 249 After Henry's Fifer

Despite these three early wickets, India's middle order batters Shreyas Iyer (79), Axar Patel (42), and Hardik Pandya (45) played necessary knocks as India went on to score 249 for nine after the end of their 50 overs.

Matt Henry picked a crucial five-wicket haul, giving away just 42 runs in his eight overs, which proved to be a massive factor in this game. As for New Zealand, they were 128/3 by the end of 31 overs with ever so dependable Kane Williamson (61*) and Tom Latham (13*) still at the crease by the time of writing.
