In a lighthearted response to Mohammed Shami's stellar performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final against New Zealand, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood delivered a comical tribute. Shami's remarkable seven-wicket haul, contributing to India's 70-run victory, prompted Sood to playfully announce a supposed ban on "Shami Kebab" in New Zealand.

Shami's outstanding bowling figures of 7 for 57 not only secured his status as the first Indian bowler to claim 50 wickets in ODI World Cups but also marked him as the fastest to reach this milestone. His exceptional averages of 9.13 and a strike rate of 10.91 set him apart as the top-performing bowler in the tournament.

Despite initially being left out of the playing XI, Shami's return proved instrumental after an injury to Hardik Pandya. The pace bowler showcased his prowess with the white ball, amassing 23 wickets in just six ODIs, including three five-wicket hauls and a four-wicket performance.

Sonu Sood's humorous tweet, humorously reporting the ban on "Shami Kebab" in New Zealand, received a cheerful response from Shami himself, reinforcing the camaraderie among cricket enthusiasts.

As India heads to the ODI World Cup final as the undefeated team, Shami, alongside Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, played a pivotal role in securing the team's spot in the summit clash.
