Sanju Samson last played international cricket for Team India back in February earlier this year during India’s five-match home T20I series against the visiting England team. While he aggregated just 51 runs in five innings at a subpar average of 10.20, the cricketer mounted some big match-winning runs in India’s preceding T20I series against Bangladesh (at home) and against South Africa (away).
While Sanju Samson is expected to make his return to competitive cricket through the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to assemble an Indian squad for the tournament. One can expect the BCCI to make an official squad announcement within the next few weeks.
The 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to launch from September 9, i.e., next month in the UAE. Team India, placed in Group A alongside Oman, Pakistan and UAE; will face the hosts the following day on September 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricket team will subsequently go up against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai and against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
