In a recent development, Prithvi Shaw has strongly denied allegations made by social media influencer Sapna Gill in an alleged molestation case and has called it ‘false and frivolous’. In a written reply submitted on Tuesday to a Mumbai sessions court, Shaw accused Gill of misusing the law to settle a personal grudge and gain publicity.

Shaw claimed that Gill was ‘playing the womanhood card’ as a counter attack to the criminal case earlier registered against her. He said her allegations were meant to damage his reputation and extract money by taking advantage of his public image.

Background of Prithvi Shaw- Sapna Gill case

The incident dates back to February 2023, when an argument allegedly broke out at a Mumbai pub. Gill was arrested in connection with an alleged attack on Prithvi Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies.

Later, Sapna Gill and five others were accused of chasing Shaw’s friend Ashish Yadav and demanding ₹50,000. Gill was arrested in this case and later released on bail.

Gill approached the Airport police station in Andheri, alleging that Prithvi Shaw and Ashish Yadav assaulted her friend. She sought registration of an FIR for molestation and outraging her modesty.

However, police did not register an FIR. Gill then moved a magistrate’s court, which ordered a preliminary inquiry. After the inquiry, the police submitted a report stating that no offence was made out against Shaw and his friends.

During earlier hearings, Shaw repeatedly failed to submit his reply, leading the court in September 2024 to fine him ₹100 and give him one final chance.

Prithvi Shaw's massive claim

Shaw finally submitted his reply on Tuesday. In his reply, Shaw said Gill was a ‘struggling actor’ who moved the court only to gain publicity.

“The present criminal revision application is false, frivolous, vexatious and filed with the sole intention to malign, defame and harass the respondent by misusing his public image and celebrity status,” Shaw stated.

He further claimed that Gill filed the plea as a counterblast to the FIR registered against her and accused her of settling a personal vendetta.

Gill’s lawyer Ali Kaashif Khan said that Shaw’s statement did not provide "a single iota of evidence or alibi" to support his defence.
