Super Saturday in Mullanpur did not go as planned for the Punjab Kings. After two cracking wins to kick off their IPL 2025 campaign, they finally succumbed to a defeat.

Rajasthan Royals came in with intent and walked away with a 50-run win, handing PBKS their first loss of the season, however, it was what happened after the game that left fans buzzing.

Preity Zinta’s Warm Hug Wins The Internet

As the players made their way for the customary meet-and-greet post-match, all eyes were on PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer who looked understandably gutted. That’s when Preity Zinta, co-owner and the ever-smiling pillar of the franchise walked up and gave her captain a consolatory hug and a pat on the back.

No words. Just that gesture. It was enough to send social media into meltdown. The video went viral within minutes. Fans couldn't stop gushing about Zinta’s emotional intelligence and leadership.

Some even called her the “best owner in the IPL”. And honestly, they have got a point. In a high-stakes league like the IPL, owners with that kind of heart are few and far between.

PBKS Outplayed In Their Own Den

It was their first home game of the season and Punjab Kings were hoping to make it three in a row. But Rajasthan had other ideas. Yashasvi Jaiswal came out with a bang, smashing 67 off 45, and Riyan Parag added late fireworks with a 25-ball 43*. RR piled up a massive 205/4 and from there on, it was always going to be a tall ask.

The Punjab top order looked like deer in headlights. Jofra Archer bowled rockets, picking up 3/25, while Sandeep Sharma and Theekshana choked the flow in the middle.

Only Nehal Wadhera (62 off 41) and Maxwell (30 off 21) showed some fight but the target was always a few bridges too far. They eventually folded for 155/9, falling short by a good 50 runs.
