Australia Test captain Pat Cummins is stepping into a whole new kind of spotlight, not on the cricket field, but in the world of animation. He is set to play a character in the upcoming kids’ cartoon series Snick and Willow, while also serving as the official ambassador for the project.
The animated show is being developed by Xentrix Studios Australia, and it aims to introduce the spirit of cricket to children through fun, friendship, and adventure.
Pat Cummins Explores An Unexpected New Venture
Snick and Willow tells the story of two young cricket-loving characters, Snick, an Indian boy, and Willow, an Australia girl who loves fast bowling. Together, they travel the world on exciting missions to find cricket artifacts and protect their local club from greedy developers.
Through their journey, the series celebrates teamwork, cultural exchange, and fair play. The show is designed for kids aged 5 to 12 and blends sports, humour, and mystery in a way that connects with young viewers and their families.
Even though Cummins’s animated character is still in development, his involvement brings star power to the show. Speaking about his role, Cummins said as quoted by Senal News,
“Growing the game of cricket has always been incredibly important to me, what Snick and Willow is doing is really special — it’s a fun, vibrant way to bring cricket to kids everywhere."
He also expressed how excited he is about the role of Willow, one of the lead characters, saying her journey could inspire young girls to fall in love with the sport. Willow, an 11-year-old Australian who moves to India with her father, Coach Evans, must adjust to a new country while embracing its culture and keeping her love for cricket alive.
Ken Cantrill, the creator of the show and Head of Creative at Xentrix Studios, also shared his excitement about Cummins joining the project. He said,
"We are beyond excited to welcome Pat Cummins to the Snick and Willow family. Not only is he one of the most respected figures in international cricket, but his passion for inspiring the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission."
Cricket Australia Backs ‘Snick & Willow’ Series
Cricket Australia is also backing the series. Richard Ostroff, Head of Broadcast, said,
“Pat joining 'Snick & Willow' as both an ambassador and character is very exciting and further underlines its extraordinary potential. Harnessing the power of quality storytelling to connect kids with cricket is a long overdue initiative."
The series supports Cricket Australia’s 2022–2027 strategic goals to engage more youth and encourage diversity in the sport.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins continues to shine on the cricket field. In the ongoing Test series against the West Indies, he has taken six wickets across four innings, showing that he’s still leading by example in real life, even as he prepares to lead in animation too.
