Chennai Super Kings (CSK) introduced their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad for the IPL 2025 season in a grand style. They produced a small video with the background music of the hit movie ‘Chhaava.’

The IPL 2025 season is set to begin on March 22, 2025, with defending champions KKR taking on RCB in the opening fixture.

Meanwhile, CSK will also field a formidable squad in the upcoming season. While MS Dhoni is retained as an uncapped player, he won’t captain the franchise.

Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead CSK in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time IPL champions, saw a transition in leadership in the IPL 2024 season as MS Dhoni stepped down from his role of a captain, ending a legendary stint.

He chose promising top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad as his successor as the Maharashtra cricketer led the franchise in the IPL 2024 season.

While CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs last year, the team management has reinstated trust in him and recently announced him as captain for the IPL 2025 season.

The CSK social media team added a unique touch to the special video, using the reference of ‘King’ from the hit movie ‘Chhaava’ starring actor Vicky Kaushal. The video depicted a kid running the CSK helmet and handing it over to Ruturaj as he transitioned into the team kit.

The video quickly became viral amongst Chennai fans as they already admired Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain of the team.

CSK ropes in ex-RCB bowling coach

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have strengthened their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2025 by appointing former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach.

The return is a homecoming for the Chennai-born cricketing tactician, who previously demonstrated his talents at Chepauk before setting out on a coaching career.

Sriram, who has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the past, has coaching experience from Australia, Bangladesh, and the IPL.
