Punjab Kings spinner Harpreet Brar has taken social media by storm after sharing a hilarious encounter with what he called a “fake fan.” The incident, which happened after Punjab’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Haryana, quickly went viral.

Brar, who was sitting on the team bus after the match, was approached by a group of eager fans. One of them handed him a phone, excitedly asking for a selfie, and claimed he was a big admirer of the left-arm spinner.

But when Harpreet Brar glanced at the phone, he noticed something amusing that the so-called fan did not even follow him on Instagram.

In a video uploaded on Snapchat, Brar narrated the moment with his trademark straight-faced humour.

He said, “A guy came and said he’s my fan. He gave me his phone for a selfie, and he’s not even following me. This world is full of fake people.”

The fan quickly realised he had been caught red-handed. In an attempt to save the moment, he instantly hit the follow button, hoping Brar would still agree to take the selfie. But the Punjab Kings star wasn’t done yet.

Replying in Punjabi, Brar jokingly said, “Now there’s no use.”

Fans across social media were left in splits, calling Brar’s reaction savage, relatable, and pure comedy.
