The much-discussed divorce between Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma has officially been finalised. After months of speculation and cryptic social media posts, the couple appeared at the Bandra family court on March 20, 2025, where their divorce was granted on mutual grounds, bringing an end to their four-year marriage.
While the exact reasons behind their separation have remained unclear, new reports suggest that the couple’s disagreement over where to live was one of the crucial reason.
What Was The Main Reason Of Separation?
After their marriage in December 2020, Chahal and Verma initially moved into the cricketer's family home in Haryana, living with his parents. However, reports suggest that Dhanashree wanted to relocate to Mumbai soon after their wedding. This move reportedly didn't sit well with Chahal.
According to senior entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani, the tension around this Mumbai-Haryana dispute was one of the central reasons for their separation.
“After tying the knot, Yuzi and Dhanashree had shifted to stay with Yuzi’s parents in Haryana and came to Mumbai only when they needed to. Yes, this Mumbai-Haryana jhagda was one of the main reasons why this much-in-the-paparazzi-world marriage ended. Yuzi was clear that he wouldn’t uproot himself from his parents’ home and surroundings," senior entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani wrote on his post.
For Dhanashree, the divorce has been marked by public scrutiny, especially after reports of her reportedly receiving INR 4.75 crore as alimony from Chahal, which led to severe trolls and criticism on social media.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Fresh Start
