Bollywood veteran Suniel Shetty is brimming with excitement as he prepares to embrace his new role as a grandfather. Notably, India cricketer KL Rahul and Suniel's daughter Athiya Shetty got hooked back in January 2023 and they are expecting a new guest in their family after 2 years.

KL Rahul as of now is currently with the Indian cricket team in Dubai as the Men in Blue is playing the Champions Trophy with their upcoming match scheduled against New Zealand on Sunday, March 1.

Suniel Shetty Reveals Expected Date For Baby

During a candid conversation on Chanda Kochhar’s podcast, the actor revealed that daughter Athiya Shetty and son-in-law, KL Rahul, are expecting their first child in April. 

“Right now, probably the grandchild. There’s no other conversation, and we don’t want any other conversation. We’re just looking forward (to meeting the grandchild) in April.” Suniel shared

The doting father also gushed about Athiya’s pregnancy glow, drawing parallels to his wife, Mana Shetty’s experience. 

“I always thought women overall, but I always thought Mana looked the most beautiful when she was pregnant. I see Athiya, and she’s looking the most beautiful.” 

'Gender Doesn't Matter', Says Suniel

Emphasizing that gender holds no significance for the family, Shetty said that they are happy with both a boy and a girl.

“Everything revolves around the baby; whether it’s a boy, it’s a girl, nothing matters.”

Meanwhile, The couple’s pregnancy announcement in November 2024 sparked widespread celebration among fans. Suniel had earlier hinted at the news during an April 2024 episode of Dance Deewane, where host Bharti Singh playfully probed him about grandfatherhood. 

“Yes, next season when I come, I will be walking on the stage like a nana,” Suniel quipped, leaving audiences speculating.

Nevertheless, with a baby expected in April, fans are also speculating about the presence of KL Rahul during that tenure in the Delhi Capitals camp as IPL 2025 will be in full swing during that time.
