Vegan Pho Surprise Elevates Virushka’s Anniversary
After captivating fans with the famous love story between cricket and cinema, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied the knot in a private wedding in Italy in 2017. Even after seven years of their marriage, fans still adore this couple. But their second anniversary in 2019 got a thrilling twist as celebrity chef Harsh Dixit made a special dish to make their special day even more special.
For Virat and Anushka’s second anniversary, chef Harsh Dixit served up a surprise with a Vietnamese classic, Pho, traditionally made with chicken or beef broth. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, he revealed how he added a special vegan twist to the dish.
“You have to keep things interesting. For Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's anniversary in December 2019, I made Pho, but with a twist,” he said.
The couple has followed a vegan diet for a long time, as they have spoken about it many times. So, for their second anniversary, the chef showed his cooking skills. He combined new ideas with care and made a vegan version of Pho.
“There's chicken and beef in the broth. But they were eating gluten-free at the time, so we went with rice noodles, which are traditional in Pho and gluten-free. Vietnamese cuisine includes a lot of snake — snake wine, even snake meat. So, how about serving ‘snakes' to vegans? Snake gourd was the star. It was stewed with peanuts, coconut, tofu, a bit of coriander, then smoked. The dish included water chestnut, enoki mushrooms, and chillies, all in a lemongrass-ginger-coriander root broth. A chilli oil was served on the side,” he said.
After stepping away from Tests and T20Is, Virat Kohli’s break from cricket has stretched even longer with the ODI series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka being called off. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the upcoming ODI series against Australia to see King Kohli in action.
