"Hate is another level": Fans call Irfan Pathan salty for discrediting Hardik Pandya

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan snubbed Hardik Pandya from his social media post congratulating India for the T20I series victory against South Africa. Fans, however, fumed at Pathan for spreading hate against Hardik for unnecessary reasons.

India beat South Africa by 30 runs in the 5th T20I to clinch the series 3-1. Pandya played a key role with the bat in the first inning. He hit a 16-ball fifty and finished with a stunning 63 off 25 balls to propel India to a 231-run total.

Hardik Pandya also picked an important wicket of Dewald Brevis with the ball and won the Player of the Match award for his heroics. 

However, Irfan Pathan didn’t see him as a match-winner. In his short tweet, the former all-rounder credited Jasprit Bumrah’s spell for the series victory and made no mention of Pandya.

In an earlier tweet, he did praise Hardik's clean hitting. But in the series victory post, Pathan snubbed him.

This strange behaviour surely irked many fans as they called out Irfan Pathan for allegedly carrying hate for Hardik Pandya. Many believe Pathan is salty and egoistic for not giving Hardik due credit.

Notably, Irfan Pathan’s feud with Hardik Pandya is not new. During IPL 2024, Pathan frequently questioned Pandya’s form, captaincy and batting technique. This was when Hardik faced intense criticism for replacing Rohit Sharma as MI captain.

Pathan was later removed from the commentary panel and he hinted that criticsing Pandya was a major reason behind his exclusion.

The tension resurfaced after the second T20I against South Africa, when Irfan Pathan criticised Pandya’s “stand-and-deliver” batting on slower pitches. 

Hardik Pandya has never responded directly to Pathan’s remarks, instead letting his performances speak, as he continues to work on his game ahead of future challenges.
