Celebrity dermatologist and hair transplant specialist Dr. Gaurang Krishna, MD (AIIMS) and Director at MedLinks, recently revealed how top Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya took timely medical steps to manage their hair loss.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dr Krishna explained how early intervention helped the two cricketers address the issue and avoid major problems in the future.
Kohli and Hardik's special approach to prevent hair loss
According to Dr. Krishna, Virat Kohli noticed early signs of hair thinning a few years ago. Instead of ignoring the problem, he took preventive measures to maintain his hair health. It is important to mention that the Doctor also clarified that Kohli did not undergo an extensive transplant but had minor corrective work done around his hairline.
The Doctor also discussed Hardik Pandya’s experience with hair loss. The all-rounder noticed early hairline problem, medically categorised as Grade 2 hair loss. To tackle this problem early on he decided to seek professional help before it worsened. He took personalized medical care to maintain both his hair health and confidence.
It is often seen that Hardik has donned various hairstyles and experimented with different hair colours. To maintain this, he needs to keep his hair dense and natural-looking.
Why hair loss is common among athletes
Having said all this, now let's understand why the hair loss problem is very common among athletes. The reason could be due to stress, busy schedules, nutrition imbalances, and frequent travel.
