Stuart Broad shocked the cricketing world by announcing his retirement following the conclusion of Day 3 of the 2023 Ashes decider. Quite recently, the speedster completed 600 wickets in Tests to become only the second fast bowler in history to do so.

Broad stated that he wanted to quit while being on top of his game, and claimed that he felt an Ashes series against Australia was a perfect stage for him to play his last match for England.

Upon Broad’s retirement announcement, his fiancé Mollie King shared a heartfelt tribute for him on Instagram, stating that she and their baby daughter Annabella are proud of him.

BBC Radio 1 presenter Mollie King got engaged with Stuart Broad in January 2021. The two also have a year-old baby daughter Annabella Broad.

A day following Broad’s sudden announcement to the cricketing world, King shared a heartfelt tribute for her fiancé on Instagram. In the caption, she wrote that she and their daughter Annabella are extremely proud of what he has achieved in his illustrious journey for England. King wrote:

“What a moment @stuartbroad - your last test! My darling, you’ve brought joy to so many cricketing fans all over the world, and especially to your family ❤️ We have loved every single minute of cheering you on and we’re so incredibly proud of you. Watching you live out your dream has been something I will never forget. Annabella and I will be cheering you and the team on today, as always. We love you so much ❤️”

In the meantime, Broad was left stranded at 8* on Day 4 after his overnight partner James Anderson was trapped in front of stumps by Todd Murphy. Anderson’s wicket was the last of the English innings as they set up a 384-run target for Australia in the series-deciding run-chase.

In response, Australian openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja reached 50 without a loss of wicket inside the first 14 overs of the innings.
