Veteran England seamer Stuart Broad left the cricketing world in shock when he announced his retirement from international cricket on Sky Sports in the post-day show of the ongoing 5th Ashes Test.

Only the second seamer in the history of the game to take 600+ Test wickets, Broad shocked everyone when he said that the ongoing Ashes Test at the Oval will be his swansong from the international arena.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Broad said:

"Tomorrow or Monday will be my last game of cricket. It has been a wonderful ride. A huge privilege to wear the Nottinghamshire and the England batch as much as I have. I am loving cricket as much as I ever had, it has been such a wonderful series to be a part of and I have always wanted to finish on the top. This series feels like one of the most enjoyable entertainment I've been a part of,” he said.

During the conversation, Broad was also shown the footage of one of the biggest infamous moments of his career from Ashes 2013, when he refused to walk despite clearly edging left-arm spinner Ashton Agar straight to first slip.

Reacting to the moment in typical Stuart Broad style, the Nottinghamshire seamer said:

"Oh my goodness me…speechless!”

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Broad smashed what turned out to be the last delivery of his Test career for a six, before Todd Murphy trapped James Anderson leg-before-wicket to wrap up England's 2nd innings.

At the time of writing, Australia had moved on to 135/0 in their pursuit of 384.
