Anand Mahindra Responds to Fan's SUV Request for Mohammed Siraj

In the wake of Indian pacer, Mohammed Siraj's incredible performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final, fans and celebrities alike took to social media to shower praise on the cricketer. Siraj’s spell of 6 for 21 was pivotal in India's decisive victory by 10 wickets.

Fan's SUV request for Siraj gets quirky response from Anand Mahindra.

Among the admirers was business tycoon Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group. Taking to Twitter, Mahindra penned a heartfelt congratulatory note for both Siraj and the Indian team for their spectacular display in Colombo. 

"I don't think I have EVER before felt my heart weep for our opponents. It's as if we have unleashed a supernatural force upon them... @mdsirajofficial you are a Marvel Avenger," tweeted Siraj.



Mahindra's association with honouring sporting talents with vehicles from his company is not new. He had previously gifted an electric XUV400 to the parents of young chess sensation R Praggnanandhaa upon his milestone achievement at the FIDE World Cup. 

Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra was another recipient, receiving a customized XUV700 after his remarkable win at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Additionally, boxer Nikhat Zareen was handed the keys to a Thar SUV following her triumph at the World's Women Boxing Championship earlier this year.

Given this history, it was hardly a surprise when a fan cheekily asked Mahindra on Sunday if Siraj could anticipate a similar gesture of an SUV. Responding with his characteristic wit, Mahindra said, "Been there, done that..."



This comment refers to the time when Siraj, along with five other cricketers, was awarded a Thar SUV for their commendable performance during the 2021 Test series against Australia. An overwhelmed Siraj had then taken to his Instagram, expressing his gratitude.

"Words fail me at this moment. There is nothing I can say or do that will adequately express how I feel about your beautiful gift. For now, I'll just say a big fat thank you," said Siraj.
