In a double celebration for Bollywood director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, his film '12th Fail' continues to soar as the highest-rated Indian film on IMDb, while his son, Agni Chopra, makes an impactful debut in Indian cricket.
Playing for Mizoram in his first Ranji Trophy match against Sikkim, Agni showcased his cricketing prowess by scoring an impressive 166 runs off 179 balls in the first innings and then a quickfire 92 off 74 balls in the second innings stood out in a challenging match where Mizoram struggled to post competitive scores. Despite Mizoram struggling in the match, Agni's standout performance caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts.
Born in Michigan, USA, Agni initially played for junior teams in Mumbai before switching to Mizoram. His debut for Mizoram in October 2023, in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Chhattisgarh, marked the beginning of his domestic cricket journey.
Following subsequent appearances in List A and T20 matches, Agni's Ranji Trophy debut became a milestone, securing a century against Sikkim.
Facing a first innings deficit against Sikkim, Agni's contribution of 75% of Mizoram's runs showcased his resilience. In the second innings, he continued his impressive form, scoring a quickfire 92 runs off 74 balls. At 25, Agni Chopra is now positioned as one of the rising stars in Indian cricket, adding another layer of success to the Chopra family's ongoing celebrations.
