After 18 years of trying and falling short, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won their first IPL title on Tuesday night. Rajat Patidar led the team to a historic victory, ending the long wait after RCB had come close but failed in the finals of 2009, 2011, and 2016.
Virat Kohli, who has been with the team since the very first IPL season in 2008, finally got to celebrate the big win. He shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking both his teammates and the fans who stuck with the team through all the ups and downs.
Virat Kohli Shares Powerful Message For RCB Fans
In one of the pictures he shared, Kohli was seen holding the trophy with team captain Rajat Patidar and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma. They wore red t-shirts with the word “Champ1ons” written in gold, using the number “1” instead of the letter “I” to mark the team’s first-ever title.
Kohli captioned his Instagram post,
"This team made the dream possible, a season I’ll never ever forget. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ride over the last 2.5 months. This one is for the fans of RCB, who never ever left our side in the worst of times. This one is for all the years of heartbreaks and disappointment. This is for every inch of effort left on the field playing for this team. As far as the ipl trophy is concerned - you’ve made me wait 18 years to be able to lift you and celebrate my friend, but it’s been absolutely worth the wait," Kohli was visibly emotional as RCB won the match by just six runs against Punjab Kings. Even before the final ball, he was seen tearing up, knowing the title was finally theirs.”

While Kohli didn’t have a big score in the final, he made 43 runs from 35 balls, he had a fantastic season overall. The bowlers, especially Josh Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, played a key role in defending the target of 191 runs to seal RCB’s long-awaited triumph.
