The big day is here! The IPL 2025 final is happening today, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the title. It’s going to be a historic match because no matter who wins, we’ll have a brand-new IPL champion for the first time since the league began in 2008.

RCB finished second in the points table this season, winning 9 out of 14 games. They crushed PBKS in Qualifier 1, bowling them out for just 101 runs and easily chasing the target with 60 balls left. Rajat Patidar, leading the team, played a huge role in that big win.

On the other hand, PBKS had a tougher road to the final. After losing to RCB in Qualifier 1, they bounced back in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians. MI set a tough target of 204 runs, but PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 87 to take his team to victory.

RCB Fans Get In Tension As Kohli's IPL Retirement Rumours

Fans are super excited, but there’s also a lot of buzz (and some panic) online, especially among RCB fans. Many are wondering if this could be the last time we see Virat Kohli play in the IPL. The rumor started after some fans said things like, “Mark my words, if RCB wins today, Virat Kohli will retire.”

Others are begging him not to retire, saying things like, “Please don’t retire, Virat, you still have so much cricket left in you!”

It’s important to note that Virat Kohli has already retired from T20 Internationals after winning the T20 World Cup last year, and he also retired from Test cricket earlier this May. However, he will still play One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India. There’s no official word about him retiring from the IPL or T20 franchise cricket, but the rumors have fans worried.

RCB’s journey in IPL has been filled with heartbreak. They made it to the finals three times before, in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but lost each time. Their slogan “Ee Sala Cup Namde” (This year is our year) has become a symbol of hope, and now, more than ever, fans are dreaming big.
